Café in Ærøskøbing – coffee, cake, smørrebrød and drinks on the town square
På Torvet is located right in the heart of Ærøskøbing. Here you can sit down for lunch with Danish smørrebrød and other good lunch dishes, enjoy a cup of coffee and today's cake, have a glass of wine or a local beer – or simply stop by for a drink and enjoy the atmosphere on the town square.
The autumn season ends in October – with special opening hours for Christmas
Our current menu is available until and including Thursday, October 15. Friday, October 16, is the last day of the autumn season. We will be open for a traditional Danish smørrebrød buffet, with coffee, cake and drinks also available.
After that, the café will be closed except for selected Christmas market days and special Christmas events in November and December. On these days, we will serve special Christmas menus instead of our regular menu.
After Christmas, we will close for the winter and reopen in spring 2027.
We keep the café simple and informal, with good lunch dishes, coffee, cake and something good to drink. The menu changes regularly, and you can always find the current selection on our menu page.

Lunch on the town square

På Torvet is also a place where you can stop by without necessarily having a meal. We have eight different beers on tap, including beers from Ærø Bryggeri, so there is a good chance of finding a beer to enjoy with lunch or an afternoon on the town square.
You can also stop by for a good cup of coffee and today's cake, a glass of wine or sparkling wine – or enjoy a drink as a little aperitif before continuing your day.

Here you can find our opening hours for the rest of 2026 and up until the start of the 2027 season. After October 16, we will only open on selected days for Christmas events, followed by our winter closure.

The café will be closed on all other days. After the Christmas events, we will close for the winter until the start of the 2027 season in spring.
Our regular lunch menu is not available on smørrebrød buffet days in October or during our special opening days in November and December. On these days, we serve the advertised buffets and menus instead.

Can I come just for coffee or a drink?
